### 🔔 How Notification Preferences Work

Cakewalk groups every notification into one of six categories. Each category can be turned on or off per channel (email and Slack). All categories are enabled by default.

You control your own preferences. There are no admin-level defaults or overrides for individual preferences in this version. Company-wide settings (such as disabling all emails or enabling Slack-only mode) still apply as overrides on top of your choices.

Everything that requires immediate human action: task assignments, new user detection, offboarding confirmations, access review assignments and restricted app alerts.

### ⚙️ Manage Your Preferences

1. Go to your **personal settings** in Cakewalk.
2. Open the **Notifications** section.
3. You will see all six categories listed. Each category has separate **Email** and **Slack** toggles.
4. Toggle any category on or off per channel.
5. Changes save automatically. No save button needed.

**Default state:** All notifications are enabled for all channels.

💡 *Why this matters:* Reduce notification fatigue without losing visibility. You decide what reaches your inbox and Slack.

### ⚠️ Important Notes

* **Company-wide overrides still apply.** If your organization has disabled all emails or enabled Slack-only mode, those settings take priority over your personal preferences.
* **Slack must be connected.** If your Slack integration is not active, Slack toggles will not apply.
* **Disabling Action Required or System Health means you will not receive those alerts.** Consider the impact before turning off categories that cover task assignments, access reviews or system errors.
